Gorse Farm Goodies
From wardrobe to self-service farm shop…
Our farm shop business was first set up in March 2020 during the Covid lockdown. We converted an old wardrobe into an egg-selling shed by the roadside for our two boys to offer chicken and quails eggs…
…Gorse Farm goodies - a lockdown story!
As the wardrobe became more and more popular, we upgraded to a small wooden shed, and added our own honey and a small fresh milk dispenser to our offering… The milk dispenser was a great success (so much so that Mrs Farmer found herself constantly running back and forth along the farm track to refill the milk!)
We received more and more positive feedback from our local customers. Everyone loved the shopping experience, the personal touches and especially that everything is either coming straight from the farm or being carefully sourced locally to support other British farmers. “Shop local! Shop British!” that’s what we were focusing on. Based on the success of our little farm gate venture, we decided to upgrade to an automated milk vending machine. Although this new addition meant fewer refilling trips, it also meant we needed an even larger wooden shed (and more twinkly fairy lights), which had its grand opening when Storm ‘Eunice’ was raging in February 2022.
End of 2025 we sold the automated milk vending machine and we the extra space available, we are able to offer externally bought in local butter, yoghurts, and a variety of bottled milk (from Berkeley farm dairy). We also have a self-service freezer where you can purchase our beef from ‘The Oxford Reds’ - our very own cattle reared on the farm.
We have a picnic area next to the shop where you are welcome to enjoy your goodies with the fab view. We also suggest some wonderful circular walks up through the farm if you have an hour to spare!
Here a list of our best selling goodies (some dependent on the time of the year):
Amazing beef (dry aged in an Himalayan salt cabinet)

Honey based Lip and hand Balm (using our honey and made especially for us by a local business soPure)
Pure beeswax candles in a tin (poured by a local business Folly & Wild)
